Motor Assisted Bicycles

Index

When it became difficult to ride my bike I started thinking about ways to still use the bike.. I was working on my solar panels and thought about making my bike electric. Nothing was less than $500 to convert my bike. I guess $500 is sort of my threshold for pain. I will buy things that cost less than $500 without too much thought, over that I think about it too much. Then my neighbor moved in with his gas powered bike and I started doing research on these little 2 stroke engines. I got hooked.

  • My first project was to take my old Schwinn Skyliner and convert it to have a gas engine.
  • The second bike is from parts, A cheapo Walmart bike and frame my neighbor gave me, thrift store items and a shift kit to make use of the gears on the bike.
  • The third project comes out  of parts I got to make the second bike and a small rear mount kit that my neighbor has
  • The fifth project, yes I skipped number four which was Bob's bike, which in general just upset me. Taught me that help building a bike is not a good thing for me. The Rear mount project got stalled but this build is helping to kick start that one as well.
  • Project six is a Schwinn Cruiser Six.  I found it on Craig's List.  It had some really great rear baskets for going to the grocery store.  This is the first real "cruiser" type bike that I have built or even owned..
